Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What type of wood are your cutting boards made of?

A: Heritage cutting boards are made of high-quality hand-selected hardwood, such as maple, walnut and cherry. Exotic woods may include Wenge, Bloodwood, Zebrawood, Purple Heart and Tigerwood - depending on the quality stock available at the local suppliers. These woods are durable and can withstand the wear and tear of daily use.

Q: Can I request a custom engraving on my cutting board?

A: Yes, I offer up to 3 inches of custom engraving at checkout. You will be asked to select either ‘Edge’ or ‘Corner’ area for the engraving. Please see images below with the locations:

Q: Are your cutting boards lightweight or heavy?

A: End Grain cutting boards are not lightweight, they are sturdy and stable. Expect 8-14 pounds depending on the size and the wood used. They are also equipped with rubber feet for stability and air flow to ensure longevity. Edge grain boards are lighter, 4-6 pounds. Face grain boards are about 2-4 pounds.

Q: Can I return a cutting board if I'm not satisfied with it?

A: I offer returns only if the product is defective. Please note that wood grain variations are not a defect.

Q: How long does it take to receive my cutting board?

A: If the board is in stock, I will ship it within 3 business days. If it is made to order, please allow up to 3 weeks as all the boards are made by me, with no part being outsourced.

Q: Are your cutting boards treated with any type of finish?

A: Yes, the cutting boards are soaked in food-grade mineral oil and finished with custom-made wood butter prior to shipping.

Q: Are the sizes listed exact?

A: No, due to the nature of the materials used, size variations of up to 0.5 inches may occur. Additionally, the actual product may differ from the image shown due to wood grain differences.

Q: What is the best way to care for my cutting board?

A: I recommend hand washing your cutting board with warm soapy water, wiping off with a towel and letting dry standing on its side. DO NOT soak the board in water or put it in the dishwasher as this can cause warping and cracking. It is also recommended to reapply mineral oil to the board periodically to maintain its longevity. Please visit Care page for more details.

Q: Do you offer bulk pricing?
